until は時間について「～まで」という意味の前置詞です。by と混乱しやすいのですが、「～までに」という期限を表す by とは違い、until は「～までずっと」という継続を表しています。
I waited for him until four.
私は彼を4時まで待った。
She worked there until last month.
彼女は先月までそこで働いた。
He stayed until after dinner.
彼は夕食後までいた。
The discussion until late at night was fruitful.
夜遅くまでの話し合いは成果があった。
He did not come home until late in the evening.
彼は夜遅くまで帰らなかった。
Basketball practice doesn't end until 6:00.
バスケの練習は6時までは終わりません。
There is only one week until Christmas
クリスマスまで1週間しかない。
The sunny weather will continue until Tuesday.
